Little Hands: Smoothie Snacks Snack time is a big deal in our house, from the toddler's perspective at least. Like clockwork, London gets hungry and needs a mid morning snack around 10 am every day. As easy as it would be to give her something bad for her, I've started a habit of making her a smoothie, and now each morning, she comes to ask for a smoothie instead of a snack. Smoothies are so very easy to make and LOADED in vitamins and nutrients you and your kids need. We experiment often with the ingredients but the one I made her today is by far her favorite. I threw into our bullet half a banana, 3 larger strawberries, a frozen cube (1 ounce) of avocado, a little bit of milk, about 3 tablespoons of yogurt (mostly for those awesome good bacteria that is so helpful with their immune systems), and a little orange juice to balance the sweet. Anytime I make a smoothie, I add in avocado because other fruits (especially berries) remove any taste of the fruit, which is good for London, and makes it creamy and loaded with vitamins and good fats great for growing little brains. We also buy already frozen fruits or freeze fresh fruits that are bought so they can easily be thrown into the cup and pureed with the milk, juice, and yogurt with no mess or hassle. Try out a new smoothie recipe with your kids today and let me know what to try next! I normally make London's large so I can drink the rest ;). Mommies need vitamins too! I made the smoothie a food on www.myfitnesspal.com so you can see all the nutritional information about it, then added a picture of the list to this. In other news, we're playing in water! Yay Summer! Are you?
Until next time,
